James and Clare Knight came across the bright Andean knitwear in 2007 whilst working as volunteers at a centre for poor and disadvantaged children in Ecuador’s capital, Quito. Another aim of Little Amigos is to continue to assist the children they worked with by giving donations from profits for specified projects.

The knitwear is made by families who have benefited greatly from the industry. They work in their homes and often multiple members of the family are involved. The knitwear is made to order so you can be assured lots of care and attention goes into making every piece thus ensuring the exceptional quality. The process starts with wool bundles being delivered to the artisans’ houses. The separate pieces that each item consists of (fronts, backs, arms etc.) are made and then joined together to give the basic jumper or jacket. Those with additional designs are then embroidered and finished. The artisans’ homes generally have no electricity, so all production is carried out by hand, or using hand powered machinery.
We’re sure you’ll agree that the finished product is irresistable! The jumpers are suitable for one to eight year-olds and have a smile and a giggle in every stitch. They are vibrant, versatile, durable, warm and best of all…………they will look great on your beautiful boys and girls. At Little Amigos we want our jumpers to be a family favourite for you and your children.
